A model Muslim community life.
A Muslim community on Cincinnati's Westside, in the tradition of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, working through education, charity and human excellence.
Our vision and mission
Our vision is to establish and maintain a model Muslim community life.
The Cincinnati Islamic Community Center works toward that model Muslim community life by focusing on education, charity and human excellence in all of its forms and expressions.
Our tradition
We follow the school of thought of Imam W. Deen Mohammed. His vision for the growth of Muslim community life in America parallels the example of how Prophet Muhammed established and cultivated Muslim community life in Medina, the City of Light.
After the Muslims migrated from Mecca because of the persecution they faced there, the Prophet's work in Medina made establishing community life an obligation for all Muslims. That is the direction we take on Gobel Court.
“We cannot be satisfied in our soul as community man, until we establish community life in America.”
Key principles of Imam W. Deen Mohammed's philosophy
- Unity of existence: the interconnectedness of all beings and the divine.
- Ethical living: moral integrity and social justice in daily life.
- Knowledge and reason: the pursuit of knowledge and rational thought as paths to truth.
- Spiritual development: personal growth through self-reflection and spiritual practice.
- Community and solidarity: community support and collective responsibility.
- Balance and moderation: a balanced approach to life, avoiding extremes in behavior and thought.
Our flag
The flag is a book, and the book is the Holy Qur'an. Imam W. D. Mohammed told the story of how it came to be.
