Asset Based Community Development

We are fostering unity through Asset Based Community Development. By focusing on vision, roadblocks, strategic direction, action plans and timelines, CICC aims to engage residents, businesses and local government in the future of our Westwood facilities.

Our work is generational. It blends young ideas with elder insight, centered on real unity starting with real participation.

Our vision and mission

Vision: to establish and maintain a model Muslim community life.

Mission: the Cincinnati Islamic Community Center will endeavor to achieve a model Muslim community life by focusing on the areas of education, charity and human excellence in all of its forms and expressions.

Goals from our Community Development Programs

From our Community Development Programs, first written in 2013.

  1. Personal and family development

    • To support the building of a strong Islamic foundation in our families and to reinforce the role of man, woman and children in the home.
    • To support the development of resources and activities for children, youth and young adults.
    • To establish an environment where Muslim children will be comfortable with their Muslim identity and empowered to take a stand for what they believe in.
  2. Dawah

    • To educate and promote a positive image of Al-Islam through our words, actions and deeds.
    • To serve Muslims and non-Muslims in local institutions: schools, juvenile detention, jails and prisons.
    • To present the work of CICC positively to the community and connect it to community resources.
    • To establish our own food pantry and resource center.
  3. Spirituality

    • To advance community members in the correct knowledge of Islamic principles, the articles of faith, Qur'anic Arabic and studies, the Seerah and the life example of Muhammed the Prophet.
    • To develop closer and stronger relationships among the believers, in pursuit of the example of our Prophet Muhammed (SAWS), who said: "You will not enter Paradise until you have faith, and you will not have faith until you practice loving one another."
    • To have the Cincinnati Islamic Community Center open for all of the five prayers.
    • To establish a Sunday Ta'leem, a Muslim book reading club, a Qur'anic studies class and a beginners' class.
    • To advance the community in the Tafsir (commentary) of Imam W. Deen Mohammed on Qur'anic Arabic, Islamic studies and comparative religion.
  4. Muslim schools

    • To re-establish the Weekend School.
    • To raise money through fundraisers, grants, individual pledges and loans.
    • To work with other Islamic schools and masajid for support.
    • To establish a children's early learning center.
